Who are Research Helper?

  • Research Helper is a part of the SimpleUsability group which was established in 2001. We speak to real people who have real experiences in order to help companies make their products or services better for everyone
  • We’re interested in your opinions on websites, apps, brochures, packaging etc to make sure that they’re easy to use and understand
  • Your feedback is used to improve how companies market their products or services

What happens during research?

  • Our research sessions are very relaxed and informal. Usually it will just be you and a researcher in the room, but sometimes we run group research too
  • Typically we will ask you to look at some websites or apps, then you can tell us what you think
  • We will ask you how you found a certain task, or if you simply understood the message that the website, brochure etc was meant to deliver
  • Sometimes we may go to a local store and ask you to tell us about your shopping experience
  • At the end we’ll give you a generous incentive for taking part – usually cash or a voucher. Our research usually pays £40 cash for an hour session

Am I suitable?

  • We are looking for people from all walks of life and all age groups!
  • You just need to be over 18 years old to take part

What’s the process?

  • Register to take part in our Market Research Panel here
  • Then you can also sign up to our Expert Panel if you like
  • Then, simply keep an eye on your inbox – we’ll email you with research opportunities if we think you might be suitable
  • Apply to take part in research by completing a short application form
  • If you’re shortlisted, we’ll give you a call
  • If you’re selected, we’ll send you an email invitation with all the details. It will contain all the information you need to know (eg. directions, session times, our contact details)
  • Take part in the research and you’ll receive cash or a voucher at the end

How do I register?

  • Once you’re registered, we’ll send you a confirmation email within a few hours
  •  If you like, you can join our Expert Panel too. Your registration confirmation email will have a link to the Expert Panel form, which will ask your preferences for shopping, holidays and other topics. This means we can send you research that is more relevant to you

What if I don’t receive any emails?

  • Once you’re registered, we’ll send you a confirmation email within a few hours
  • Then, depending on the research, you could hear from us tomorrow or in the next few weeks
  • We don’t want to waste your time emailing you with research if it’s unlikely we can select you to take part – so if it’s been a while since we emailed you, it just means that we are waiting for the right research for you to come along
  • If you’ve taken part in research then don’t hear from us in a while, it just means that we’re giving other people a chance to take part. We follow strict MRS guidelines, which mean that we can’t invite you to take part too often
  • Your information will be stored safely on our records until we next contact you

How do I unsubscribe?

  • You can unsubscribe at any time from our Market Research Panel. To unsubscribe, go to this page or click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails.
  • Please allow up to 14 days for the unsubscribe to take effect, due to emails which have already been scheduled.

How do I change my details?

  • Please use our form Update your details or email info@research-helper.co.uk to amend your information at any time. We will ask you every two years if you wish to remain a part of our Market Research panel.

How does Research Helper deal with complaints?

Will my details be kept safe?

  • Our participants always comment on how respectful and trustworthy we are, and we promise to keep all of your information safe
  • You’re protected by the Data Protection Act. All of the information that you give us will be treated confidentially and we will not pass your information to any third parties, neither will we contact you about anything other than market research. We appreciate that situations and circumstances change; if you want to be removed from our database then just send us a quick email and we will make sure you are removed.
  • We want to give you peace of mind to register and come and find out more!

When does research take place?

  • Sessions usually take place between 9:30am and 5:00pm on Monday to Friday
  • Sometimes we can offer sessions in the evenings and at weekends
  • If you work full-time during the week, it is still worth registering to take part

Where do I need to go?

  • All of our research takes place in central locations throughout the UK that are easy to get to
  • When you are invited to take part in a research session we will always send you clear directions with a detailed map
  • Most of our research takes place at our facilities in central Leeds, and we’re a ten minute walk from Leeds train station

Is there parking available?

  • There is free visitor parking right outside the front of our Leeds office. This is available on a first-come, first-served basis, but there is also plenty of cheap street parking nearby
  • If your session is at a different location, we will endeavour to make sure there is parking available

Is there any childcare available?

  • Unfortunately we don’t have any childcare facilities, so you will need to arrange childcare while you attend your session
