Have you claimed Funeral Expense Payment to help you pay burial or cremation fees, including the doctor's certificate, to go to the funeral or for travel arrangement costs?

The experienced Researcher Team conducting the online interviews appreciates the sensitive nature of the topic and come from a background of ensuring services work for the people who need them the most.

We know how difficult it can be to talk about all you have been through in your time of grief. The decisions you had to make arranging the funeral, wanting to give the best sent off you could, and finding support to           pay for it.

By sharing what you went through you will be helping our client to understand more about the experiences people are having when claiming Funeral Expense Payment during their time of grief.

Interviews will happen throughout 2023, we are looking for people to register their interest to take part in this valuable research.

Successful applicants will be paid cash via bank transfer or voucher, averaging £40 - £50 for your time per session.

Research projects requirements

  • Claimed Funeral Expense Payment within the last 3-years
  • Lived in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland when you made your application
  • You (or your partner) are claiming a qualifying benefit and getting one or more of the following:
    • Universal Credit
    • Income Support
    • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Pension Credit
    • Housing Benefit
    • The disability or severe disability element of Working Tax Credit
    • Child Tax Credit
  • Relationship to the deceased and you paid for the funeral with the Funeral Payment:
    • Partner
    • Parent
    • Child
    • Sibling
    • Close family member; grandparent, aunt, uncle, grandchild, niece, or nephew
  • You are not next of kin but the person who arranged/applied for Funeral Expense Payment
  • Participants will be required to have either a laptop, mobile phone, tablet, or desktop computer to complete the interview with the researcher online via MS Teams.
